About the Art
Michele Jules is a North Queensland artist creating original paintings and creative works inspired by light, landscape, memory and the natural world.
Art, for me, is a way of listening to the world rather than trying to control it. It begins in quiet moments — in the colours of the landscape, the movement of wildlife, memories and feelings — and slowly becomes something tangible through paint, clay and texture. Living and working from my studio in the Atherton Tablelands, I create works shaped by observation, intuition and a deep connection to nature. Each piece carries a story, formed through patience, curiosity and a desire to capture the unique spirit of the Australian environment.
I studied Visual Communications at Seven Hills College of Art in Brisbane and built a professional career in graphic design and animation. Those years refined my understanding of composition, colour and storytelling, but painting has always been the place where instinct leads and imagination is free to wander.
Creating is more than a practice — it is a way of understanding life more deeply. I welcome imperfection, spontaneity and the unexpected moments that make each artwork unique.
Through my art brand Chalanni, I create original paintings, pottery and creative projects inspired by Australian wildlife, landscapes and storytelling.
Private commissions are welcomed. Each commissioned piece is given dedicated time and care, allowing the artwork to develop thoughtfully while reflecting both your vision and my creative process. Where the Stories Begin
Nestled among the mountains of Moomin near Herberton in Far North Queensland, my studio is a place where creativity unfolds at its own gentle pace. Surrounded by ancient rainforest, shifting light, and the quiet rhythm of the natural world, I find space to listen, observe, and create. Each day begins with the changing colours of the landscape, the chorus of native birds, and the stillness that invites both reflection and imagination.
This landscape is more than where I paint, it is a constant collaborator. The textures of weathered trees, the softness of mist across the hills, and the vibrant life that flourishes in the rainforest find their way into every brushstroke. My work is an invitation to pause, to breathe, and to reconnect with the beauty that exists when we slow down and truly see the world around us.
